Treating a lake with AquaBio
Designed and developed in-house, AquaBio is a smart solution to biological silt removal.
A micronised powder produced from the processing of high purity gypsum mineral (CaSO4.2H2O – Calcium Sulphate di-Hydrate), AquaBio rebalances the composition of the water to reduce silt and combat eutrophication by the provision of calcium sulphate.
Where AquaBio differs from conventional aquatic chalk (calcium carbonate), is that crucially, it doesn’t alter the pH of the water.
The use of calcium compounds, known as ‘liming’ in fisheries management, is a long-established method with proven results.
The term comes from the field of aquaculture where liming is used as part of the annual cycle to prepare ponds ready for the growing season.
Where ponds are used for intensive or semi-intensive aquaculture, it is a highly recommended procedure used as a precursor to fertilisation.
AquaBio is also completely harmless to all aquatic organisms including fish and amphibians.
Treatment period
Any time of the year but most suitable between November and March in water temperatures below 10°C.
Two or three treatments spread over a season will be more effective than one stand-alone application.
